1. The Challenge

Bermuda Holiday Lights Challenge (the “Challenge”) is a free entry and can be done by following instruction provided and only via RGmags.com. This Challenge is administered by The Royal Gazette (the “Challenge Sponsor”). This Challenge begins when the web portal opens for submissions on November 18, 2020 12am and closes December 7, 2020 12pm. This Challenge is provided solely for entertainment purposes or as a pastime and must not be used in conjunction with any other marketing or promoting without the written consent of The Royal Gazette (the “Challenge Sponsor”).

2. Eligibility

This Challenge is only open to legal residents of Bermuda above the age of 18 years. LIMIT one (1) entry (registration) per person AND per e-mail address AND physical address. Multiple entries per person or email address will be disqualified. This Sweepstakes is governed exclusively by the laws of Bermuda. Employees of BPHL. (the “Sponsor”), its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and Challenge agencies, and the immediate family members of, and/or those living in the same household of each, are not eligible to enter. Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable Bermuda laws and regulation

3. How to Enter
1. Starting November 9th, go to rgmags.com and fill out an entry form under “Contests”.
2. Choose your theme and decorate your house!
3. Between November 18th – December 7th, submit up to 6 photos (jpgs only) or 1 video (.mov or mp4, no longer than 1 minute and under 3 mb) to [email protected]
4. Wait for a reply which will confirm your submission was received before looking for your submissions online.

4. Scoring

Judges will use a scoring method between 1-10 (10 is maximum points). Weighted criteria: number of lights (1-10), overall creativity (1-10); theme (1-10); presentation (1-10). Participants with the most points will win. In the case of a tie the judges will re-score the finalists.

5. Standings and Updates

The updated standings will be posted once vetted by RG staff. Follow the Challenge on rgmags.com under “Contest” under the photo or video pages.

6. Winners and Prizes

There will be one (1) Grand Prize winner plus a second (2) and third (3) place finisher. Any additional prizes given are at the discretion of the Sponsors. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges, comprised of RG Staff and Sponsor(s) Staff. The criteria for selection will be given to each judge based on the following (weighted) factors: number of lights, overall creativity; theme; presentation.

Prizes Valued at 1st – $1000, 2nd – $500, 3rd – $250. Prizing will be announced to the winners on December 11, 2020 and communicated to the public (“Official Results Date”) in the week of December 21, 2020 (or earlier). Unofficial standings will be posted on RG Mags and shall remain subject to audit and review for Ten (10) days from the announcement to winners. At the conclusion of the Unofficial Results Period, the standings shall be declared final and official (“Official Results Date”).

7. Terms and Conditions

By participating, all members agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Challenge Sponsor and the Challenge Administrator, which shall be final and binding on all matters relating to this Challenge. Winners will be notified by the Challenge Sponsor via e-mail and/or telephone as per “Winners and Prizes” timelines. Winners will be required to execute (return) an affidavit of eligibility; a liability release, legalities, and a publicity release, within five (5) days after issuance of notification. Non-compliance with the above may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. If attempted prize notification fails or the requisite documents are returned as undeliverable or are not returned within five (5) days of receipt, prize may be forfeited in its entirety without further notice and awarded to an alternate winner. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash and no substitutions are allowed (except by the Challenge Sponsor due to prize unavailability, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be substituted). All entries become the property of the Challenge Sponsor and will not be returned to members. The Challenge Sponsor reserves the right to correct all printing, typographical, or mechanical errors. The Challenge Sponsor reserves the right to use images, video, and property identifiers in our marketing and promoting of properties entered..

Online entries by Internet will be declared and made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, education, institution, etc.) responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Challenge Sponsor is not responsible for entries not received due to lost, failed, delayed, or interrupted connections, including Internet/Web-server/network/phone-line connections or miscommunications, or other electronic malfunctions, computer or telephone, hardware or software failures, malfunctions, or garbled or jumbled transmissions. The Challenge Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend the Challenge should virus, bugs, unauthorized human intervention, legal restrictions, or other causes beyond the control of the Challenge Sponsor (in the Challenge Sponsor’s sole opinion) corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness, or proper operation or play of the Challenge. In any such event, select winners, either by highest scores achieved requiring such termination, cancellation or suspension or, if necessary, by random drawing from all eligible registrations received prior to event requiring such action.

The Challenge Sponsor reserves the right to verify the eligibility of any participant. Any attempt by an member to deliberately damage any website, or undermine the legitimate operation of this Challenge, is a violation of criminal and/or civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, the Challenge Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify the member and seek damages and other remedies to the fullest extent permitted by law. By participating, each member agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and further agrees that: (i) if legally permissible, the Challenge Sponsor and its parents, subsidiaries and affiliate have the right to publicize his or her name, voice, city/state of residence, photograph and/or likeness for advertising, trade and/or any other purpose in any media or format now or hereafter known without further compensation, authorization or remuneration; and (ii) the Challenge Sponsor and the Challenge Administrator and their respective parents, affiliates and subsidiaries, and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents shall have no liability whatsoever for any loss, injury, or damage to member or any other person or entity, including personal injury, death, or damage to personal or real property, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prize or participation in this Challenge.

All local laws apply. Challenge void where prohibited or restricted by law.
